AW 2013-14

We asked the artist Dirk Braeckman to capture our collection through a six-minute film with contemporary dancer and choreographer, Lisbeth Gruwez. This collection was composed of colors over-dyed with grey. We found that we shared a non-linear vision expressed through a richness and variety of grey tones with Dirk, as well as similar ideas of disconcerting concepts of direction. We had Lisbeth’s face completely covered with an extremely oversized wig so you would be perplexed to distinguish between front and back, while Dirk’s work disorients one’s sense of direction, what is up versus down, as illustrated in his work with film.

Instead of a traditional runway show setting, we projected the film onto a large curtain. At the end of the screening, the curtain dropped to reveal a tableau vivant with live girls dressed in the collection. The descended curtain was pulled through the sea of the audience to clear a path for a runway, down which the girls walked.
