SS 2019
Celebrating An Vandevorst & Filip Arickx’ 20th wedding anniversary.
For SS19 collection, A.F.Vandevorst pays homage to the centuries-old tradition of ethereal wedding dressing.
This capsule collection merges signature wedding dress materials - fluid silk satins, crispy cotton poplins - with cool wool in a muted colour palette of white, ivory and sky blue. Oscillating between these neutral tones and Vandevorst’ s iconic army-khaki and tuxedo black, the duo have created a 20-piece daywear collection which juxtaposes seamlessly with the ethereal prints and materials of this season. Key prints are sliced flowers, and wedding ring designs.
Accompanying this capsule for A.F.Vandevorst, is the latest shoes and accessories collection, which plays on the necessity for the travelling bride to be stylish and comfortable on the biggest day of her life. An assortment of flats from slippers and mules to sporty sandals and sneakers, and mid and high heels expand from comfortable and summer chic to stilettos. Soft lambskin, colourful exotic snake prints, jacquard and moiré viscose combined with heavy calfskin, embodies the power-play of the modern nomadic woman. The collection materials feature contemporary neoprene, and a hint of wedding couture embroideries.
A group of iconic riveted bags is added to the label’s classic accessory collection, alongside the flower printed bags created for the bride to carry as her wedding bouquet, ultimately the perfect accessory for a wedding day.
To tie the wedding-inspiration all together is Vandevorst’ s wedding couture collection, which comprises of ten classic looks. The premise behind it is simple: weddings are steeped in heritage and tradition: from mother to daughter, from one family to another, interchanging between the tribe. The ten unique pieces are extracted from vintage wedding dresses and tuxedos in an array of ivory and white, with the sharply contrasting razor black. This collection of wedding couture is repurposed, repositioned, reassembled. Ready for generations to come.
